***SULLIVAN SNARES Hole-In-One***
~TAKES OVER FIRST PLACE ~NOLAN GETS CLEAN SWEEP
~ENGELHAUPT BEGINS CLIMB
The first quarter of the inaugural STATracker season for the Ladies Golf Association at the Harbour Pointe Golf Club, came to a close this past week with the final event of the month, the Eclectic Best Ball tourney, as April begins its slide into May in the next few days.
April saw the HPGC/LGA score its first hole-in-one of the season when PENNY SULLIVAN nailed her ace back on April 18th. In addition, Sullivan also snared ACE of the MONTH for April. With those 2 seismic achievements, getting her a cool even 100 points in all, Sullivan soared into first place in the Magnolia Cup standings, bumping RUTHANN HENDEL into the number two spot.
Also during the April 18th April ACE round, PAM NOLAN scored a clean sweep during her round. It was her first sweep of the season.
In other “firsts,” it was the first team win of the season for NANCY ROBINSON and CINDY PELLIGRINI as well as Ruthann Hendel and KATHLEEN FULLER. In the case of Robinson, she already owns an ACE of the Month from her March escapades.
KRIS ENGELHAUPT began to make her presence felt. Although she appeared in only one event in the weather-challenged rainy month of April, Engelhaupt scored 6 pars in her lone round. Both she and SUE LAYTON lead the way in that category.
It was DAWN RITTER and Nancy Robinson responsible for achieving the 3 birdies scored during the month. In the case of Robinson, it was her second birdie of the month.
Elsewhere… as this report is being written, STATracker Central has received word that the HPGC team has scored a convincing victory in the annual prestigious NEW BERN CUP tournament. Early reports indicate that it was the ladies of the HPGC/LGA and Paul Cormier and Rick Toby of the HPGC/MGA, that paved the way for the big win. The ladies contingent consisted of SHARON HENKE, Kris Engelhaupt, Sue Layton and KAREN MACAULAY. A huge “Congratulations” to the players of the HPGC team for their momentous victory.
