Birdies With Brian
Cold weather is upon us, and that means the grass is going dormant. Dormant grass means tighter lies around the green; however, there is an approach you can take that'll lower your scores.
There's a saying I live by which goes "Putt when you can, chip when you can't, and pitch when you have to." Now that the grass is thinning out, it leaves a bigger opportunity to putt. Even if you're in the rough, during the dormant season, the grass isn't as think so the ball will tend to roll right through. Chipping becomes much more precise in the winter. Your first instinct may be to pull that sand wedge out, but I guarantee after practicing for a short time using the putter, that will be your better option.
