The FH Hospital Auxiliary has been busy this past month making dolls & toys for our pediatric patients and surgical pillows for mastectomy and heart patients. Both these items need Poly-fil to stuff them, and we have a committee working on a grant to the Fairfield Co., which makes the filler, to help the auxiliary cover the cost of this expense. In last month's Beacon article, we thanked the Knights of Columbus Council for generously donating $200 to help the auxiliary cover costs for baby blankets and stockings that we deliver to Carolina East Hospital every December. The Knights of Columbus Assembly had also given the auxiliary $400! We are so thankful that this incredibly dedicated organization serving our community also assists smaller community volunteer and nonprofit groups, such as the FH Hospital Auxiliary! THANK YOU!
Pam Gaskill took a moment at our last meeting to honor Janell Ringuette for her commitment to helping the auxiliary as Chairperson and Vice-Chair over the past four years. Pam noted that Janell was an incredible asset to the auxiliary and community during our recovery from the devastation caused by Hurricane Florence and the shutdown triggered by the Covid Pandemic! Janell is a fantastic woman with such strength and enthusiasm in everything she does in her life. We feel so blessed that she continues volunteering in the auxiliary and hospital.
Please remember the FH Hospital Auxiliary is hosting a bake sale on April 1 to coincide with the community yard sale. We will open in the Community Center at & 7:45 – 11 am and sell delicious warm breakfast quiches and casseroles, our fresh-from-the-oven cinnamon rolls, and piping hot coffee. Our volunteers also make sweet baked goods like cakes, loaves of bread, brownies, muffins, and an assortment of delicious cookies. We always offer a 50/50 raffle, which is fun for all, especially the winner. The money we raise from our bake sales allows the auxiliary to purchase items such as yarn for lap robes, shawls, baby blankets, and material for surgery pillows, fidgets, and toys.
The FH Hospital Auxiliary meets on the third Monday of almost every month at the Community Center from 9:30 to 10:30. The auxiliary does not hold meetings during the summer months of July and August. It's a great way to meet new friends and become involved in our community by helping Carolina East Medical Center. Please join us and see what we're all about.
