Welcome SPRING and our plants are starting to blossom. This spring the Fairfield Harbour Garden is focusing on growing and maintaining your gardens.
The Fairfield Harbour Garden Club held its monthly meeting on March 10th. It was an opportunity for attendees to learn about the gardens here in Fairfield Harbour and to have their gardening questions answered.
The guest speakers were Kate Castle and Will Caudle. You have seen both Kate and Will working in the gardens around Fairfield Harbour. They explained how they choose the planting and maintain the gardens.

Following their presentation, three garden club members with the distinction of “Master Gardener” answered attendee’s questions about planting and maintaining their own gardens.
Upcoming Meetings
Have you driven down Broad Creek and wondered “What is Latham Whitehurst Nature Park”? Want to learn about local trees and shrubs? Then join the Garden Club for their April Meeting on April 14th. This meeting will be held at Latham Whitehurst Nature Park. Dr. Tom Glasgow (former Director of the Cooperative Extension) will lead us on an easy walking tour of the Nature Park pointing out the various trees and foliage. It will be a great opportunity to learn more about what is native here in ENC. The meeting will begin at 9:30 at the Latham Whitehurst Pavilion. (Pavilion is right next to the parking lot.) After a short Business meeting we will tour the Nature Park. Water and a light snack will be available, so participants will be able to keep up their energy.
“How to Sharpen and Care for Your Garden Tools” will be the topic of the Garden Club’s May meeting. Add the date to your calendars, May 12th, 9:30 am (coffee and social time starting at 9:00am) in the FH Community Center. All are welcome.
Day Trip
The Garden Club is planning a day trip for members to visit Carolina Home and Gardens in Newport, NC. Attendees will carpool to the Gardens on May 6, 2025. The event will include a presentation on “Preparing For Spring Gardening”, lunch, shopping and touring the greenhouses and gardens. Registration is due by April 21. The cost for the day (including lunch) is $25.00.
