Sharon Henke, Chris Engelhaupt, Jackie Hice, and Linda Lelli won First Place in the Lady's Division.
Saturday, June 22, Harbour Pointe hosted its first Journey of Hope golf tournament. This tournament ran in collaboration with the Emerald Golf Club. Our Ladies Golf Association was put in charge of organizing the event and did a fantastic job from start to finish. From mailing flyers to organizing gift baskets, a lot of work was put in to make this event a success. The entire Fairfield Harbour Community showed up as sponsorship checks started flooding in. Multiple tee signs were placed on each hole due to the overwhelming support. The total dollar amount raised has not been announced, but it's in the tens of thousands. All proceeds will stay here in New Bern and go to the SECU Cancer Center at the hospital.
Jackie Hice and Cheryl Furman lead the JOH Tournament at Harbour Pointe Golf Club. The Emerald Golf Club wanted to expand the cancer fundraiser and asked Jackie and Cheryl if they would help. Jackie and Cheryl were delighted to jump in and support this worthy cause. Reba Aylward, a CarolinaEast Foundation volunteer and Emerald Golf Club member, is the Journey of Hope coordinator.
Jackie Hice said, "I am happy to be involved and instrumental in helping our HPLGA and Fairfield Harbour community participate in this worthwhile endeavor. We have all been touched by cancer. There is no better way of showing that we care and want to support those cancer patients, families, and caregivers in eastern North Carolina who need our assistance. Thank you for taking the time to consider joining us in this effort to relieve some of their concerns."
Cheryl Furman added, "The HPLGA is excited to offer our community an opportunity to help us make a difference in the lives of people living with New Bern cancer by supporting Journey of Hope."
Thank you to everyone who made this event such a success!
