Meet Oreo, an adorable male 8-month-old miniature schnauzer owned by Valerie Owen. Valerie, who got Oreo through a breeder in Bridgeton, answered our online pet submission form so we can get to know Oreo a little. Keep reading to learn more.
This was just after Oreo had gone out to walk in the snow (for the first time) and immediately came in and ran to the window to look at it again.
What led you to choose the name for Oreo?
He was black with a white beard.
Any stories you'd like to share about Oreo?
Oreo came to us when he was 8 weeks old. He was this little bundle of joy and full of mischief.
He loves to play, especially with a plastic bottle. He also loves his "ducky" and brings it to us to play, throw, and retrieve all day. We had a Christmas party this year, and because he gets overexcited when he sees people, we left him in his bed in the bedroom. When only a few guests were left, we let him out, and he brought "ducky" to each and every guest and gave them the biggest welcome! And then he proceeded to repeat the whole thing again.
Does Oreo have any funny quirks?
His zoomies are wonderful! How he gets through and around furniture at the speed he goes without hurting himself is beyond us.
Every evening he asks my husband to get on the floor and play with him. He just climbs all over him and gets different toys for him to throw.
What are Oreo's favorite things?
Eating of course. Sitting next to my husband watching tv. Jumping on the window sill to look out and find out what he is missing. Sleeping on our laps and being loved.
What else would you like to share?
We lost our beloved dog, Hopper, last January and were heartbroken. My husband said he could never go through that again but I convinced him to see Oreo and he fell in love with him.
Oreo has brought so much love, laughter, and joy to our home and I am grateful every day.
